PERC- Inergy’s Senior Vice President of Business Development Carl Hughes disputed several “myths” that suggest propane’s global and domestic supplies are running short. “Using liquid propane or natural gas treatments to fuel fire pits is safer and more convenient than burning wood, but property owners must still observe caution and diligence to avoid accidents. For wood fires, fire-pit owners must not overload their units and must always use spark screens to keep embers and sparks from coming out of the container. When finished, homeowners may spread the embers on a flat surface to cool down and extinguish them with water.” – PERC
